Meet the Instructor

Lilian Beentjes is an artist, jewellery maker, and teacher. She studied Fine Arts & Education at the AHK and graduated with an MFA from the Fine Arts department of the Piet Zwart Institute. Her sculptures and jewellery explore the relationship between traditional craftsmanship and DIY culture.

Within her practice, she researches the potential of accessible materials through playful experimentation. Aluminum wire frequently appears in her work, for which she has developed a deep understanding of and now uses with precision to create high-quality jewellery pieces.

Level: Open to all – no experience needed

Create your own aluminum wire jewellery. During this workshop, you will learn how to sketch a design, apply techniques to shape the material, and carefully finish your piece to create a high-quality necklace, ring, bracelet, or pair of earrings.

Aluminum wire is a soft and pliable metal that is easy to bend and shape. This makes it suitable for both beginners and more experienced jewellery makers. The wire is available in different thicknesses and colours, offering a range of possibilities in form and detail.

The workshop is built around exploring the material through playful experimentation. By focusing on the process, you will learn how each technical decision influences the final result. At the end of the workshop, you will take home your finished jewellery piece, along with a beginner’s guide to continue practising and developing your skills at home.
