Open Studio Days

Work independently in a fully equipped goldsmithing studio located in the vibrant Schiehavenhallen and join Rotterdam’s creative community.

Our Rent a Bench concept offers makers, students, hobby goldsmiths and professionals the chance to work independently in a fully equipped jewellery studio. Whether you're refining your skills, working on personal projects, or simply need proper tools and a safe workspace, this is your place.

It's also a wonderful way to meet fellow makers, exchange knowledge, and broaden your jewellery-smithing network. Open Studio Days bring together people at different stages of their creative journey, creating a friendly, collaborative atmosphere rooted in Rotterdam’s unique creative fibre, the city’s spirit of experimentation, craftsmanship and openness.

I’m present during every session for basic guidance and studio safety, but these are not lessons: participants are expected to work independently.

How It Works

• Open Studio Days: selected days from 12:00–17:00

• Capacity: up to 10 makers per session

• Included:

  • fully equipped bench

  • shared tools & machinery

  • basic consumables (polishing papers, flux, etc.)

  • studio safety & light guidance

• Not included: metals, stones, solder, wax & special consumables

Some materials like basic wax or silver and stones can be bought in studio.

• anyone who enjoys the company of other makers and wants to connect within Rotterdam’s creative scene

Pricing

€60 per Open Studio Day (12:00–17:00)
gives you full access to the workspace.

Strip Card Options

For frequent studio users:

• 5-day card: €260

• Valid for 6–12 months

• One “strip” = one full Open Studio Day

Support & Additional Guidance

Open Studio Days are intended for independent makers.
If you require more in-depth help:

Additional assistance:
€15 per 15 minutes (for technical guidance, troubleshooting, or advanced steps)

Experience Level

To keep the studio safe, you should have:

• basic skills in sawing, soldering, filing, and basic bench work

• ability to work independently

• understanding of safe tool use

Beginners are recommended to start with a workshop or course before joining Open Studio Days.

Spaces are limited — early booking is encouraged.

Cancellation Policy

• Free cancellation up to 48 hours beforehand

• Cancellations within 48 hours are non-refundable

• You may transfer your spot to another maker

The studio is located in Rotterdams Schiehavenhallen, In the west close to Delfshaven and coolhaven.
Accessible by bike and public transport.
