From your own idea to your own piece of jewellery

Would you like to learn the basics of jewellery making and create a beautiful piece of jewellery yourself? In this new course at Studio KEYSER, you will work from your own idea and design towards a finished, wearable piece of jewellery over six sessions.

And because the course finishes in early December, you’ll have something special ready for the festive season to wear yourself or give as a gift.

You don’t need any previous experience, or even a clear idea of what you want to make. We start with your interests and ideas and explore together which shapes, materials and techniques suit your design.

You might work with sheet metal and wire, learn to forge and hammer, use the Dremel, set a stone or experiment with cast in place. Maybe you want to cast something, work with an unusual material or simply explore the basics of the craft. The technique follows the design.

The lessons are practical and personal: no long lectures from the sidelines, but hands-on work at the bench. You will work with your hands, experiment, make mistakes, and learn along the way when and why to use different techniques.

The course takes place in the studio at Schiehavenhallen, a former industrial site on the Maas where various makers and artists have their studios. At the centre of the workshop is a large workbench where we work alongside each other, share tools, knowledge and ideas.

The group is small, allowing plenty of room for personal guidance. Whether you are looking for a new creative hobby, have been curious about jewellery making for a while, or want to explore the craft more seriously, you are very welcome.

The goal is simple: by the end of the six lessons, you will have gained new skills and experience and above all have a piece of jewellery that you designed and made yourself.
